We realize that few people are seating experts, so we’ve got Eliza Tinsley, innovative office furniture, to answer a few FAQs on your behalf:
Arm Fitting
Q.The arms supplied have four holes in them for the screws. But my chair has only 3 fixing points, what should I do?
A. The fourth hole does not need a screw and it should be blanked over by the cover cap. The brackets provided should be used to firmly fasten the backrest either under the upholstered pads or directly under the seat.
Backrest Adjustment
Q. Can the backrest be moved away from the seat pad? If so, how?
A. Yes, this can be done through a numerous ways depending on what sort of chair you have:
- If your chair has a hand wheel that goes through the plate under the chair and screws into the bar that connects the back, then adjust this (near the side bracket) as required.
- If your chair has adjustments directly screwed into the under side of the seat, then adjust it through this. The plate can be moved forwards or backwards.
Backrest height adjustment
Q. How do I adjust the back height of the chair?
A. There are two key types of back rest adjustment on our chairs. The first is controlled by a hand wheel that is found at the back of the chair. To adjust this you need to loosen the hand wheel and raise the back section. When it is at the desired height tighten the hand wheel back in. This hand wheel is either attached directly to the back or located between the seat and backrest. Other chairs that have ratchet backs can be adjusted by lifting the back of the ratchet mechanism. It will click into place and the backrest will be held into the desired position. There are a few ratchet points on each back; once the top point is reached the back will be lowered to its lowest position.
Q. I cannot push the chair castor in far enough to make it lock into place, what should I do?
A. Spray a bit of lubricant into the hole and then try to push the castor in. If this doesn’t do the trick, then put a small bit of wood in between the chair wheels and lightly tap the castor in using a hammer.
Q. The castors keep falling out when I push them into the holes?
A.You will hear a click and feel the castor lock, until this happens the castor is not located securely.
