"Better cinema seating for disabled people is needed"
After a bad cinema experience, a man with muscular dystrophy and his mother, Lynne Beaumont, are calling for better seating in cinemas for disabled people.
Christopher Beaumont, a wheelchair user, couldn’t fully view the film from the disabled seating area, so moved to the end of the aisle. However, they were then told by Vue cinema staff to move as they posed a “fire risk”.
Ms Beaumont said, "I was very angry. My son had paid full price for that ticket and so he should have been able to see the film properly." They are now asking the Equality and Human Rights Commission for advice.
The cinema in Leeds has apologized “for any upset or frustration caused by the experience”, but maintain that they must comply with fire safety regulations.
Unfortunately, we don't stock cinema seats! But for all your office seating needs, visit TheSeatingSupermarket.com.
